BELGRADE – Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said today that he is willing to talk to the self-employed about a possible change in the law regarding their tax obligations in the future, saying that they, like all citizens, must now pay the taxes from the previous period.

“We have to pay taxes. I’m ready to talk about it in the future, if we need to explain some more things, maybe change some law, change it and clarify it. It is not a problem, but we will do it in the future,” Mali said. answering questions from journalists at the Palace of Serbia.

It points out that the disputed tax obligations of the self-employed and of all those who earn from having income from abroad refer to the past period and that they, like all of us, must pay taxes and contribute.

“I hope that those who win this way will solve it,” Mali emphasized.

He thanked the Tax Administration for attending to all those who did not comply with their obligations, informing them to carry out controls.

“I don’t think it can be heard anywhere in the world except in Serbia, they have heard it in Serbia. We want to make everyone in Serbia aware that taxes must be paid.”

Mali adds that it is indisputable that the tax must be paid and that it is the obligation of the self-employed determined by the 2001 law, which was amended in 2003, and that nothing has changed since then.

“In that sense, everyone who wins should also pay taxes. By the way, 2.2 million citizens in Serbia pay taxes and contributions. According to the information we have, some who have income from abroad did not cope with all that, but it’s not a hobby. “If you make money and have to take care of your tax obligations. If you can’t, you can get a tax advisor, “said the minister.

He says that he is always willing to talk to everyone who wins that way, as well as that the Tax Administration attends to their needs by filling out their tax returns if they do not know how to do it themselves.

Mali adds that it agrees that in 2003, far fewer people earned that way and that it is therefore ready to discuss changes to the law in the future.
