The expert Dragomir Vasiljevic, when hired by the Belgrade Superior Prosecutor’s Office, in today’s trial of Zoran Marjanovic, accused of killing his wife Jelena, further clarified his findings in a certain part and reiterated that the mobile network system was not made to monitor user movements. Therefore, the search for the young woman took a long time.
This fact, among others, was used by defense attorneys to almost completely question the expert’s finding regarding the expertise of Zoran Marjanović’s mobile phone, and especially the part related to the location of the accused.
In court room 26, images were also broadcast from two video surveillance cameras, placed in the house of the Jahović family, looking at the embankment. It is interesting that at the alleged moment of the crime, around 5 pm, a cyclist was on the embankment, about 150 meters from the place where the body of Jelena Marjanović was later found. He was moving in the direction where, according to the indictment, a young woman was attacked.
“If the expert’s finding were correct, the recordings would have to show what he claims, and there is no such thing,” said lawyer Aleksandar Zaric.
On the other hand, the expert witness Vasiljević maintained that Zoran Marjanović’s phone was switched off or in airplane mode between 16:38 and 17:04. When asked by the lawyer on the basis of which he later states that the meeting of the spouses could have taken place in that period, Vasiljevic was not the clearest. When he insisted on explaining Marjanovic’s movements, he briefly replied that it couldn’t be done because no base station had picked up his phone signal.
“There are only assumptions that the meeting could have taken place, but we do not know where Zoran Marjanović is at the time when Jelena’s phone falls to the ground,” explained expert Vasiljević.
Attorney Nikola Dumnić, on behalf of the other defense attorneys, made a number of comments about this experience, especially since it involves a space-time analysis for which, in his opinion, Vasiljević is neither professional nor competent.
– His conclusions are unacceptable, because he was an expert based on a program that is not accredited, two years after the event and a free application, which is used for entertainment – said Dumnić. – In addition, you used other models of mobile devices. In the find, he himself says that he could not determine either the trajectory or the speed of Zoran Marjanović’s movement. He made only a hypothetical assumption that Jelena and Zoran’s paths might have crossed at a critical moment, but not that it actually happened.
Defense lawyers testified that they were on the embankment to see for themselves on the spot how wrong the expert’s finding was.
“It is not true that Marjanović could see the events on the embankment from the distance the expert is talking about, except for a possible silhouette,” Dumnić explained.

LAWYER Veljko Delibasic asked the judge to include singers Sandra Afrika and Indi on the witness list. As he explained, they recently talked about Zoran and Jelena and dated and cooperated with both of them. This is important to clarify your relationship, especially when it comes to the motives for committing a crime.
– It is necessary to interrogate the bus driver, who was passing at the time of the crime and whose camera searched the embankment at a critical moment, as well as the bus passengers – asked lawyer Aleksandar Zaric. – We ask that the karate players who were on the embankment at that time be questioned. Especially Ivan Todorov. All of them also passed the polygraph test.
