What is known about him is that he was married to Maja Luković, a Canadian-born journalist, and that he took her last name. He has a daughter with Maja, who visits him regularly in prison, and after that marriage union ended, Ulemek entered into an extramarital affair with Aleksandra Ivanović, with whom he has three daughters.

According to the latest media reports, Aleksandra regularly visits the Legion in Zabela, and on that occasion she also brings her three daughters to visit him. However, he is rarely photographed in public.

After Ulemek was arrested, his wife moved to France with their children, and prior to this decision, Aleksandra was not separated from her safety. As the media previously wrote, it is speculated that he found himself in trouble several times because of Aleksandra Legija.

Legija allegedly sent his beloved a bouquet of flowers to the maternity hospital just a few months after he was accused of assassinating Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, almost costing him his freedom. In addition, there are allegations that he turned himself in to the police precisely because of an argument with his wife, but they never confirmed or denied it.

It should be remembered that Ulemek was sentenced four times to a maximum of 40 years in prison for participating in the murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, criminal acts of the “Zemun clan”, four murders on the Ibar road and the murder of Ivan Stambolic and the attempt of Vuk Draskovic’s murder in Budva. He won’t be released from jail until 2044, when he turns 76.

By decision of the Belgrade High Court last year, he will likely serve his sentence in a special ward of the Serbian “Alcatraz” until July 2022, after which he could be transferred to another part of the prison.

The former commander of the Special Operations Unit has spent 16 years in strict isolation in the “Zabela” special ward, which is why his lawyer often demands softer treatment and greater freedom of movement within the prison.

For now, he has been denied the privileges that apply to convicts in more open wards. There, more frequent contacts with the outside world are allowed, work in one of the workshops, walks around the prison, and in addition, the prisoners can use the love room, where Ulemek could see his partner intimately.
