The retired bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina Atanasija passed away after a fight with the corona virus, it was confirmed from the Trebinje hospital. The news of the death was also published on the website of the Metropolitanate de Zahumlje-Herzegovina.
“The retired bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Primorje, Atanasije, rested in God. His Eminence passed away on the night of Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Public Health Institution of Trebinje Hospital. The announcement about the funeral of the newly represented bishop was will be published later, ”the metropolitan announced.
Bishop Dimitrija also announced to the believers gathered in Trebinje Cathedral that Bishop Atanasija had passed away. He said Atanasije would be buried in the Tvrdoš monastery, reports Alternative Television (ATV) of Banja Luka.
It was previously confirmed for ATV from Trebinje hospital that the bishop died as a result of the coronavirus.
Retired Bishop Atanasija of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Primorje-Gorski Kotar was admitted to Trebinje hospital for treatment in the second half of February, after being examined for the presence of coronavirus.
His condition worsened two days ago when he was put on a respirator. He had inflammation of both lungs, writes ATV.
Atanasije Jevtić was born in the town of Brdarica, in the Sabac-Valjevo region, on January 8, 1938.
