Famous Serbian actor Milan Vasić was a guest on a colleague’s show Milan Kalinic in the program “Survivors”, where he talked about growing up in Kosovo and Metohija. For the first time, he presented in public what the meeting with the KLA was like.

– It happened somewhere between 1997 and 1998, I only remember that event, nothing before and after that. Before that, there was a period when Albanians didn’t go out at all, it was terrible. You only know that the neighbor is in the apartment, and the curtain does not move at any time. Serbs are different, at least we show a little, but they are not like that and that is discipline. And then you realized that something was wrong – Milan said and continued:

– A friend with whom I coached soccer asked me, since he had Jugić, to go to Vranje to buy oil for a lawnmower. We head towards Vranje and the first Albanian village I pass through, Koretin, when I leave the village, there is a column on both sides and people dressed in black with KLA posters, masked with masks and machine guns in hand, next to them . At that point, I can no longer feel my knees. This is the first day the KLA appeared, so it had not been in the whole of Kosovo until then. I was young and come on, I was scared that people would stand with rifles and escort people, instead of seeing a guy in front of me hitting a driver on a bus and playing soccer with me. I just know the boyfriend and I see them harass him, but also the people getting off the bus. Well then I don’t even feel my knees anymore, my body is absolutely cut off, I’m very scared because they take a man in front of you and take him away. I don’t know where they lead those people, but their first thought is what? Coat, hello. Running is simply impossible, I have been in two vehicles since that search and I am not thinking about anything. I was so scared that I didn’t even say a word to anyone else in the car, I don’t even remember him being next to me. I remember there was a wooden cross in the rear view mirror and I immediately wrapped it up so it wouldn’t show. It’s my turn and by chance it happens that my record is PR (Pristina), and then it was not possible to know which part of Kosovo you are from, so if you are Serbian or Albanian. At that moment something happens that I cannot explain, I keep repeating it to myself and it is not clear to me. A man with a ghost approaches me, in uniform, rifle in hand, and I mechanically raise my hand and salute him. He looked at the record and pointed his rifle at me. I didn’t consciously raise my hand and say ‘let me pretend I’m sorry’, no. I just don’t know what happened. We traveled to Vranje so even today I don’t remember absolutely anything, I don’t even know if we bought that oil. So much so that when you are afraid of something, it is not like someone with a stick is waiting for you, it is the people who are harassing some people there, the war is starting, the army is here and you are an 18 year old boy . – Vasić said on the program.
