The Minister of Culture and Information, Maja Gojković, assessed that the appearance of fake news is a great danger in journalism, but that it is something that the profession itself must face.
The minister told Primera Televisión that she respects the journalistic profession and that all news must be “truthful, objective, valid and measured.”
He said that “the Minister of Culture must not interfere in editorial policy. The profession itself must find a solution to combat fake news.”
Asked about the safety of journalists, the minister said that a working group has been formed for their safety, because every journalist must “feel safe.”
“Journalism is an important pillar of Serbian democracy. Journalists should be free to ask questions and get answers. Some politicians do not have such a conscience, and that is an example of an arrogant attitude towards journalists, and that is what creates insecurity, “said the minister.
