The Belgrade police arrested ND (31) and DP (39) on suspicion that, with a forged power of attorney, they tried to withdraw 50,000 euros from the deceased’s bank account.
They were arrested immediately after committing the crime at the bank’s branch, the Interior Ministry announced.
It is noted that there is suspicion that ND with a forged identity card in another name, together with DP, who also presented himself falsely, announced to bank officials that he was authorized by the deceased to withdraw 50,000 euros from his account in foreign currency.
By verifying the identity, bank employees determined that the customer was deceased when the power of attorney was issued.
Suspects ND and DP went to the branch and, with a forged identity card and a power of attorney, submitted a request to withdraw the money, after which they were immediately arrested.
Both are accused of fraud and falsification of documents.
