New test for kovid 19 can be applied at home on a “do-it-yourself” basis. However, Dr. Mikanović also has doubts that need to be clarified.

The “do it yourself” test will cost a little less than three euros and everyone will be able to check for themselves if they are infected or not. It will first be on sale in the northern part of Italy, which was the hardest hit by the epidemic, it is written in today’s news, which shocked global public health.

Pharmacologist Dr. Dejan Mikanović answers the question: can any crown test be performed without the supervision of a physician? Will this be a solution to increase the number of tests in Serbia as well?

– There is a need to do as much testing as possible in Serbia, and if we had the opportunity, I am sure that the crisis staff would issue a recommendation that we all get tested to be protected from asymptomatic cases. If there was a possibility to test from home, it would really ease the healthcare system and ease the pressure on healthcare workers, which is also a huge advantage, says Dr. Mikanović.

According to the first information, the “do-it-yourself” test, which is produced in Italy, works by “looking for” surface proteins that are characteristic of the virus. The swab is taken with an object that looks like an ear cleaning stick, is placed in the nostrils and must be rotated five times.

– After that, the object is placed in special containers equipped with reagents, which will show whether the result is positive or negative. Two lines mean that you are positive, one that you are not. After the results, it is necessary to activate the application through a mobile phone, which has already received permission from the regional council of Italy as far as privacy is concerned. Whether this test, which is similar to current pregnancy tests, will actually be used and sold more widely in pharmacies depends on how susceptible you are to the virus in the final stages of the test, but also how clear it will be to women people how. the test is applied correctly.

– There are several doubts that must be resolved. First, how will you know if the test was applied correctly, if there is no health surveillance? Second, how will the possibility of abuse of positive and negative tests be avoided? However, another possible problem with the application of this test is that the market in which false negative tests are sold is growing. The misuse of such tests cannot be predicted in any way, while the practice of falsifying or buying false results has emerged in destinations around the world.
