Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić was prevented from entering Kosovo this morning because the Kosovo authorities consider him a “security danger”, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

Vesić, whose visit to Kosovska Mitrovica was announced on November 2, when the president of the temporary body, Aleksandar Spirić, visited Belgrade, he was supposed to sign the Charter on the twinning of Belgrade and Kosovska Mitrovica today, on Municipality Day , writes Kossev.

Although it was announced in early November, the visit was confirmed to some local media just last night. Today’s visit plan, which was released by the Tanjug agency this morning around 9 am, was not submitted to KoSS.

It was announced to Tanjug that the visit would begin with the laying of wreaths to the fallen fighters at “Partizanski brdo – brda Kukavica”, after which he was supposed to visit the construction sites of the park and the playground on the street. Kralja Petra Prvog.

Vesić was also supposed to visit Radio Kosovska Mitrovica, which commemorates the anniversary of his existence, as well as the construction works of another residential building financed by the City of Belgrade, this radio reported this morning, referring to Tanjug.

At the end of the visit, Vesić would also receive the Letter from an honorary citizen of that municipality.

Due to this action by the Kosovo authorities, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija assessed that it represents “the most overt demonstration of Pristina’s unwillingness to contribute to the creation of normal inter-ethnic relations and the social climate in Kosovo and Metohija.”

They also see Vesić’s entry ban as a violation of the agreement on freedom of movement, and consider Pristina’s explanation that Vesić’s stay in Kosovo and Metohija would be a “security danger” absurd.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that it would inform representatives of the international community on the ground and mediators in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina on this ban.

Although announced, Vesić’s visit to Mitrovica was not confirmed, but over the weekend, the Kosovo media reported on the alleged request by Serbian officials to visit Kosovo. However, in that request, the President Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković and Marko Đurić requested permission to visit.

The Kosovo minister described this request as an “insult” in the circumstances in which a mass grave was recently discovered in Serbia, in which people from Kosovo are believed to be, and said that in such circumstances “the response to Serbia it will always be the same. “

For KoSSev, however, the Serbian Presidency did not want to comment on these accusations by the Kosovo media about the visit request.

The mayoral election will be held in North Mitrovica on Sunday, and following the announcement of the visit of Serbian officials, including President Vučić, ahead of Kosovo’s parliamentary elections in October last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo also announced that such demands would be made during the election campaign. to deny, that is, that “Kosovo’s institutions will not allow the electoral process to be damaged.”

Until the publication of this news, KoSSev did not receive a confirmation from the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the prohibition of Vesić’s entry, while the Kosovo Police sent us to the direction of this same ministry.
