Vekic: state is introducing coronavirus antigen tests

Deputy Health Minister Berislav Vekić announced that the state will introduce antigenic tests for the corona virus, which are cheaper than PCR tests, with the aim of increasing the number of tests, as Slovakia has done.

The preconditions for the mass introduction of these tests are coming to an end, and the two manufacturers match PCR tests of up to 96 percent, Vekić said, noting that they will be performed in kovid dispensaries and institutes.

Vekić estimated that the devastating data from the United States Chamber of Commerce study is that 41.5 percent of citizens are not concerned about the kovid-19 infection and do not believe that they will receive the crown, as well as that a third of fellow citizens do not wear a mask.

After the loud appeals we have, they hear that 71 percent of the citizens do not wear a mask.

We constantly order, we wear masks because the main way to transmit coronavirus is the droplet route, Vekić said in the AMCHAM online debate.

“The mask is our first line of defense, along with physical distance and hygiene, and this is devastating data for us as a society.”

Vekic said he would especially highlight “the great irresponsibility of young people who showed immaturity towards society and the system at the third peak.”

We are a modest country that has invested a lot in improving the health system and economic progress, he said.

“It’s easy to wait for 11pm to walk into a nightclub, in cold weather, and spend the whole night in a crowd, where we don’t know who is positive, and then pass it on to your parents,” Vekić illustrated.

When symptoms appear, he said, we arrive nervously at the clinics and cannot wait in line, as was almost the case at the Infectious Diseases Clinic, when the boy and girl attacked the doctor.

Vekic said it was important to increase the number of tests, strengthen epidemiological surveillance and strengthen the capacity of the health system, which so far has proven extremely resilient in Serbia and provides the possibility of rapid adaptation.

When it comes to private practice, Vekić said the Health Ministry gave certain conditions for private labs to do PCR testing.

He stated that 127 private laboratories received a certificate of serological tests and antigen tests, as well as that he has information that none received a PCR test, although he received a paper that some of them met the conditions and must verify why they do not work.
