Miroslav Lajcak addressed the European Parliament and the parliaments of the Western Balkan countries at a conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Dayton Agreement and highlighted the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina as “basic challenges in the region. “.
Lajcak points out that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is “the basis of his mandate”, and that the aim is to reach “a legally binding global agreement on the normalization of relations that will solve all open problems once and for all and harmonize it. with international laws and European values. “
“It will be crucial for the European path of both parties, the stabilization of the region, and it will unlock a lot for the whole region,” Lajcak said.
The EU Special Representative says he is satisfied with the results of the dialogue so far, starting with the resumption of talks, until reaching an agreement on the main elements of a legally binding agreement for “full progress” on matters of disappeared and displaced and economic cooperation.
“We are currently discussing mutual claims and property issues,” Lajcak says.
Lajcak also thanked Belgrade and Pristina for their commitment, and President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Avdulah Hoti for their commitment, which they demonstrated in the continuation of the dialogue.
