A criminal complaint was filed with the Basic Public Ministry of Sombor against a man from Apatin who intercepted two taxi vehicles and insulted migrants and taxi drivers who transported them.
He is accused of committing the crime of threatening security.
The video clearly shows him threatening both taxi drivers and migrants.
– These are sporadic cases as they have been until now, as in Apatin, Pirot and other places, but fortunately it always ended without major consequences and in my deep conviction, it was always done due to lack of information and fear – says Ivan Gerginov, Deputy Commissioner for refugees and migration.
Terrible attacks on migrants
Although such cases, as Gerginov explained, are sporadic and end without major consequences, Serbia still remembers some of them.
Thus, in May of this year a case was recorded in which Filip Radovanović (20) from Obrenovac knocked down the fence of the Migrant Reception Center in Obrenovac by car late in the afternoon, entered and scared the users of the center with a crazy ride.
He streamed all of that live on his Facebook profile.
– We are not going to hurt these people, here we are going to break in … I don’t want my girlfriend to be attacked by migrants! I don’t want a Muslim state! I don’t want to put up with this – a young man can be heard screaming in the video and adding gasoline on a crazy trip around the inner circle of the Reception Center.
The video also shows him complaining that people avoid the vehicle at the last minute. He stopped only at military security, who called the police. He was immediately arrested.
A few days later, the controversial “Leviathan” movement, of which Radovanović himself is a member, organized a protest in front of the barracks, which became the Migrant Reception Center in Obrenovac, with which they wanted to express their support.
Jovana Stojković also attended the protest, saying that “xenophobia means nothing and that it is a parapsychiatric term that should explain fear of the unknown.”
A month later, Radovanovic pleaded guilty to the prosecutor.
– He was convicted after he pleaded guilty and concluded a plea agreement with the Basic Public Ministry of Obrenovac. The agreement was confirmed by the Obrenovac Court of First Instance, and he was released on Friday, during which he spent almost a month, Danijela Sindjelic, spokesman for the Basic Prosecutor’s Office of Obrenovac, told “Blic”.
Tests determined that he was drunk at the time of the attack.
Organized patrols intercepted the refugees
Only a few months before the raid on the Reception Center, organized groups of men calling themselves “popular patrols” were seen in Belgrade and under the pretext of policing the city, intercepting and persecuting the migrants in Belgrade, threatening to beat them , restricting their movements and the like.
How well this action was organized is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that they already had printed brochures in English, Serbian and Arabic, which they distributed to them, just like the ones the Jews had in Nazi Germany.
– We know that you are here in Serbia on your way to the EU and that you do not want to stay in our country any longer. While you are here, do not touch our women, our children and citizens and no one will touch you either. If you attack someone, we will respond. We are neither the state nor the police, we are the people. And our response will be fierce. From now on, our patrols will occasionally patrol Belgrade, where you will be, and will react if there is violence on your part. Do not touch anyone and you can continue your journey in peace – said the representatives of the initiative “No surrender of Kosovo and Metohija”, which later turned out to be behind the action, the migrants, and a video of one of the ” popular patrols “.
The images clearly show and hear organized groups of three or four, with hoods on their heads, intercepting migrants in the wider center of Belgrade and warning them in a threatening tone, in English, not to “date Serbs” and they do not touch Serbian women “and” do not create problems. “They were also reminded that the patrols will walk the streets every day and monitor the behavior of migrants and react if necessary.
The police also intervened in the entire case, informing the competent prosecutor about the activities of these groups.
