With these words, the day after the double murder in the forest on the Turijan stretch, near Sremska Mitrovica, the residents of Futog, where brothers Predrag (43) and Stanislav (37) Jelicic lived, talk. Apparently, the Jelicic brothers were killed because of the conflict over the territory where precious mushrooms, truffles, are gathered.
As reported by “Blic”, brothers Dejan E. (38) and Nebojša E. (35), who were arrested today, are suspected of shooting at them around 8 am on Sunday.
Silence and disbelief in Futog
In Futog, near Novi Sad, there is silence and disbelief due to the death of the Jelicic brothers, who according to the locals were exemplary citizens who left five children behind.
– Stanislav and Predrag had a kennel where, among other things, they used to find truffles. However, that was not their main activity because they could not earn enough to feed their children. Predrag left three children and Stanislav had two children. They are all orphans now due to some fungi. Horror. Who knows what really happened there and who attacked there when – says a relative of the murdered Futožani, noting that the deceased brothers were never known as quarrels but as peaceful and familiar people.
The late Jelicic brothers were members of the “Futog” Kennel Club, whose representatives say they were good guys and great lovers of dogs, especially of the Lago Romano breed.
For a puppy of this species that is specially trained to look for truffles, it is necessary to reserve between 500 and 1,000 euros, depending on the level of training for the search for expensive mushrooms.
– People who love dogs cannot be bad. Such was the case with Predrag and Stanislav. They bred the Lagotto Romagnolo breed and were very dedicated to work and trained them to hunt for truffles. Stanislav did that more often, and Predrag seems to have been with him on a fateful Sunday. The truffles went to their heads and enveloped all Futog in black, not just their families, says a member of KD “Futog”.
As “Blic” wrote earlier, four men got into a fight in the woods, and the verbal conflict soon turned into a physical confrontation with the tools used to pick mushrooms. At one point, Dejan E. allegedly pulled out a gun without a license, shot Stanislav and Predrag Jelicic, and then called an ambulance and the police.
Brothers a certain detention
According to the Ministry of the Interior, brothers Dejan E. (38) and Nebojsa E. (35) were detained by the police for up to 48 hours, due to the existence of grounds to suspect that they committed the crimes of aggravated homicide and production, possession , carrying and illicit trafficking of weapons and explosive substances.
Due to the bodily injuries they suffered in the physical conflict preceding the murder, the suspects received medical assistance at the Sremska Mitrovica hospital and will be transferred to the Sremska Mitrovica High Prosecutor’s Office with a criminal report.
