The remains found in the Kiževik quarry near Raška could be the bodies of 15 people from Kosovo who have been searched since the end of the war, but excavations and DNA analysis have not yet continued.
In the place provided by the Ministry of the Interior of Serbia, there is the Chairman of the Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of Serbia, Veljko Odalović, who confirmed this information to Kossev, transmits Kossev.
“Yesterday, the remains were found along with parts of the clothing. We stopped the works according to the procedure, until the next judicial decision. The War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office has finished its part of the works, and now the judge decides by issuing an order on dynamics, measures, who to attend, and we look forward to that decision in the coming days, “said Odalović.
The location is provided by the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, and forensic experts, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Commission on Missing Persons, EULEX, the Kosovo Task Force on Missing Persons, as well as forensic experts and experts. At this time, Odalović could not specify how many bodies are in this place, considering that the works have been temporarily suspended until the judge’s decision.
If the assumptions turn out to be correct, the bodies of 15 missing people from Kosovo are in question, but Odalović stressed that the end of the excavation and forensic examination is yet to come.
“For now, it remains a question of unidentified people, whose identity will be determined when the DNA analysis is done,” Odalović said. According to the most recent data, 1,643 people are still listed as missing from the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija.
