In today’s session, the Serbian government approved the reorganization plan of the public company Srbijagas, which means the beginning of the reform and modernization of the gas sector, announced the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

“Serbia deserves to have a gas sector that is powerful and profitable, and the implementation of the plan proposed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and accepted by the Government of Serbia, will allow us to carry it out, with clear tasks and deadlines,” said the minister. of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic. .

He assessed that the Srbijagas reform will create the conditions for a stable and safe gas supply, and for much more efficient and profitable operations of gas companies, which is important for the infrastructure projects they are implementing.

According to her, the Srbijagas reorganization plan brings the separation of gas transportation and distribution activities between Srbijagas and the Transportgas and Distribucijagas Srbija companies, licensing these companies for the activities they carry out and harmonizing their work with the Energy Law .

“The plan also includes the adoption of the proposed measures to resolve the issue of numerous related companies in which Srbijagas has a stake in the capital and which tax the business of that company,” the minister emphasized.

He added that the reform of Srbijagas, in addition to what is prescribed by the laws of Serbia, also represents an international obligation.

“The adoption of the plan and the implementation of these reforms is important also for the prevention of the announced introduction of measures of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community against Serbia, as well as for the elimination of obstacles to open Chapter 15 in the negotiations with the European Union, “said Mihajlovic.
