BELGRADE – The security situation in Serbia is currently stable, partly unpredictable, because it depends on others, and not on us, said today the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, General Milan Mojsilovic.

He pointed out that there are challenges and risks, because the region has security problems, emphasizing that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija is a security challenge and that is why there is an international military presence in that part of the territory.

As a guest on TV Prva, Mojsilović said that in a crisis situation, everything can go downhill and the situation that is currently under control will disappear. “The fact is that the situation on the ground is under the auspices of the UN,” Mojsilovic said.

He affirmed that in recent days in Kosovo and Metohija we have witnessed incidents and intimidation directed at the Serbian population, and evaluated that it is good that we have international forces, that they have obligations and responsibility for the part of the territory they control.

“We are pointing out the problems, we are trying to be partners with KFOR on the ground,” Mojsilovic said.

He added that he was grateful to the president and to the entire country for what they are doing in resolving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and noted that it is good that the army does not have an important role in that.

“We practice to defend ourselves, to always be ready to respond to all risks, but we think that the main thing should be from another sphere,” Mojsilovic emphasized.
