Bishop Teodosije said that the news that the patriarch, father, pastor, father had passed away was received with pain and regret.
– We could say a lot about our patriarch and it really belongs to being the father of all of us, really in Kosovo and Metohija. He had a great understanding for Kosovo and Metohija, for all of us who live here, we persevere, we survive. He was a great support for us. Especially to me as bishop, clergy and monks, but also to those believers and people who persevere all this time and do not want to leave these holy places – said Teodosije in the monastery of Gracanica.
According to him, he really understood the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and felt sorry for all the men.
He says that the position of the patriarch was very clear on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the Holy Synod of Bishops and the patriarch emphasized every time that we must not give up our holy land, our Jerusalem, our Prizren, the Patriarchate of Pec and Decani, Gracanica.
“A legacy to endure to the end in this area”
– What is the heart and our soul. That if we renounce Kosovo and Metohija and leave these sacred spaces, we will no longer exist, we will not be what our ancestors and our saints always were, and that we will become something completely different, alien to us and not peculiar to us. Those words and such attitude of the patriarch give us additional strength, but also the obligation to persevere on that path, to preserve his vote and will. As bishop, I really experienced that as his legacy to persevere to the end in this area and that we should never, but never, give up on our Kosovo and Metohija.
Speaking about the survival of the people and the future, Bishop Teodosije noted that survival in Kosovo and Metohija does not depend only on them.
– I would like to say that it is up to us to what extent we are faithful first of all to God and how much we trust in his help, to what degree we are faithful to the Kosovo pact and to the values that have kept us behind all these centuries. how united we are, how much we live in love and how disinterested we are to give ourselves to the other, to give ourselves and sacrifice ourselves for the most sacred. It is a Kosovo vow and if we fulfill it, then there is hope for us and survival for us – says the bishop.
He said that if everyone is on our side and God is on the other side, then we really have no future or survival, we have done everything as human beings and we remember the words of our blessedly deceased patriarch Paul, who told us: “God will help us. Help us. if he’s in a coma. “
– And that, if you have someone, means that we must be of God, that we must keep God’s word, that we must keep God’s commandment and bear witness to our name, what we are, our existence, and that as a nation we must be what we are. Nothing more – he said.
So there is hope and our presence and life in this area confirms that Kosovo and Metohija are still holy Serbs, the most sacred thing we have, what we are proud of, but also what keeps us as God’s people and as a people in relationship. with everyone else and everyone else, Teodosije pointed out.
“In a short time we lost two true shepherds”
– In a short time, we lost two true pastors, parents, Metropolitan Anfilohije, and now our wonderful patriarch Irinej. God took them, God really has his plans and we, although we are sad at this moment, because we lost our parents, spiritual in the first place, and they were our shepherds, we are not desperate – said Teodosije.
– Christians have hope and especially at this time we pray for peace of the soul of the blessed late Metropolitan Amfilohije and Patriarch Irinej. And we believe that now they are closer to God, and that they have greater freedom before God and that they represent us in this moment when we really need it, an additional force from within, that will move and motivate us to persevere in the first place. then, as people, to be upright in front of everyone and, most importantly, to preserve our faith in the gray shrines and our people in this area – said the bishop.
In the end, Bishop Teodosije said that the details of the patriarch’s funeral were not yet known and that the Synod would be announced on that occasion during the day.
