With these words on her Facebook profile, Elizabeta J. said goodbye to her seven-year-old son Strahinja J., who died after a three-day struggle for life, following an accident at the level crossing of the Mala Bosna settlement in Sremska Mitrovica. This sad announcement triggered a stream of tears and a statement of condolences to the family.

The prayers of the residents of Sremska Mitrovica for the recovery of the seven-year-old girl, who was transported to the University Children’s Clinic in Tirsova immediately after the accident, with severe neurotrauma, were in vain. Despite all the doctor’s efforts, the boy’s body did not survive.
And how the fatal accident happened on Sunday around 6pm has not yet been officially announced. For days, however, there has been speculation about what happened next to the railroad.

– From what I heard, the mother was standing at the level crossing with a child in a pram and a seven-year-old boy. They went down the ramp and were waiting for the train to pass. At the moment the train was passing, the boy somehow hit him – says, for “Novosti”, DR, one of the passers-by who was found near the railway after the accident.
However, according to the statements of other witnesses, who were found near the crossing that night, the boy was riding a bicycle behind his mother, but at one point it moved, the train pulled the bicycle, of which the little he fell and hit his head.
The ambulance service immediately rushed to the field and hospitalized the seven-year-old boy, who was transferred to Belgrade after being diagnosed with severe head trauma and unconscious. The seven-year-old boy passed away around four in the morning.
SADNESS AT SCHOOL
MALIŠAN was supposed to go to the first grade at “Jovan Popović” primary school, with other classmates. The news of the seven-year-old boy’s death shocked the staff of this school, as well as the entire Sremska Mitrovica.
The inhabitants of Mala Bosna only have words of praise for the boy’s family. They say they are a wonderful and harmonious family.
– The boy’s mother came from Sombor and married Sladjan with whom she has another son. She is unemployed and he plays sports. Great sadness and tragedy came over them, and he was a wonderful boy, an older man from this settlement tells us.
The Sremska Mitrovica Police Administration told “Novosti” that the circumstances that led to this accident are still being determined.
