According to research into antibodies that attack the SARS corovirus, scientists have identified the antibody that blocks covid 19.

Continuing to investigate SARS coroviruses, scientists at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, as well as the Erasmus and Harbor Biomed Medical Center (HBM), have identified a potential method of neutralizing Kovid 19.

They found that antibodies that prevent the SARS virus from infecting human cells could also block the new coronavirus from infecting human cells, according to a study published in the journal Nature Communications.

By testing their antibody collection in cultured human cells, the researchers found what binds to a specific part that is present in both SARS and the virus that causes kovid 19.

The discovery could offer an initial step toward developing a completely human antibody to treat or prevent the disease, which has infected more than 3.5 million people worldwide and caused more than 247,000 deaths.

Neutralized antibodies “can potentially alter the course of infection in an infected domain, undermine virus clearance or protect an uninfected person exposed to the virus,” said Dr. Berend Den Bo, co-director and author of the study, according to Sky. News.

The antibody used in this study is completely human, allowing the drug to continue to develop rapidly and to reduce potential side effects associated with immunity.

The difference between a fully human antibody and other antibodies is that other antibodies first develop in other species before they are “humanized” so that they can be transmitted to humans.

The research was conducted using transgenic H2L2 technology, which allows researchers to develop human antibodies without testing on humans.

“This is revolutionary research,” said Dr. Dingsong Weng, executive director of HBM.
