LONDON – Egyptian tennis player Youssef Hosam was suspended for life today due to match fixing.

The Tennis Integrity Unit announced that Hosam will no longer be able to compete, but also attend matches.

“The investigation showed that Hosam was associated with other people and that it was an extensive corruption campaign related to betting on lower levels of professional tennis,” TIU said, adding that Hosam violated 21 rules.

Eight rule violations include match-fixing, six betting cases, two requests from other tennis players not to bother, three to invite others to get involved in corruption, and two examples of failed cooperation with the investigation.

Hosam was previously suspended for one year.

It used to be the world’s number 291 tennis player, in 2017, while it currently ranks 820 on the ATP list, reports AP and reports Beta.

In 2018, his brother Karim Hosam was also suspended from tennis for life and fined $ 15,000 after being convicted of 16 corruption charges.

In 2013 Karim Hosam was 337 on the ATP list.
