Pilots Major Dejan Krsnik and Captain 1st Class Zvonko Vasiljevic of the 101st Fighter Squadron of the 204th Air Force Brigade of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defense were killed when a MiG-21 plane crashed in the area of the Brasina village near Mali Zvornik.

For Krsnik, this was supposed to be the last flight before retirement, his friends say.

– He is an exceptional man, friend and professional. Krsnik and Vasiljevic were our favorite colleagues, they say, devastated by grief.

Krsnik was the commander of the 4th Aviation Department of the 101st Fighter and Aviation Squadron. He was born on May 28, 1971 in Belgrade. He has been in professional military service since July 30, 1994. He is married and the father of one child.

– And he was the only one. His son enrolled in the Vršac pilot academy, following in his father’s footsteps. The older one was supposed to end up somewhat more in civilian life and planned to continue working as an instructor at Vrsac as well, friends of the late pilot tell us.

The family came to Serbia from Croatia, where his father is from. Her mother was born in Vitanovac near Kraljevo. She worked at the “Rebro” clinic in Zagreb as a nurse.

Krsnik went through all the battlefields and also participated in the defense of the country from NATO aggression in 1999. He wanted to educate his son so that tomorrow he would also serve his homeland.

All plans were interrupted by a fatal flight. By saving houses from the MIG 21 plane crash, heroes Krasnik and Vasiljevic became legend.
