Vehicle owners in Kosovo with KS plates will be obliged to replace them with RKS plates, announced the Kosovo Interior Ministry, reports the Kossev portal in Koha, Pristina.
From this ministry, they stated that all registration procedures for vehicles with KS plates are being completed.
“All owners of vehicles that have KS plates, when extending the vehicle registration, are obliged to replace the KS plates with RKS plates, in accordance with the procedure for extending the vehicle registration and on the basis of decision no. 012 / 2020 of 10.01.2020 for the determination of rates “, it is indicated in the announcement transmitted by Koha.
Kossev recalls that KS plates have been in use since 2011 on the basis of this year’s Free Movement Agreement, and the agreements signed in Brussels between the Belgrade and Pristina delegations for the normalization of the implementation of the agreement of September 14, 2016.
“All car owners residing in Kosovo will use RKS or KS vehicle registration plates. They will be issued by the competent Kosovo authorities, and will be distributed with the mediation of EULEX if necessary”, is one of the points of the agreement of 2011.
Then, the parties, based on the provision of the agreement on free movement of 2016, decided to bring as an interim measure the extension of the validity of the KS plates for an initial period of five years, after which, as agreed , the two parties will reconsider this issue.
According to this agreement, the owners of the KS license plates can freely travel within the territory of Serbia or through it, while the people who have the RKS marks are obliged to remove the so-called test plates, declared the Kossev portal.
