The “Mig 21” plane that crashed near Mali Zvornik was inspected prior to take-off in accordance with all procedures, and after the inspection, it was determined to be correct and ready to fly, the Defense Ministry announced.
After an investigation by civil and military authorities, the Chief of Staff formed an Emergency Investigation Commission headed by Brigadier General Milan Popovic, Head of the Development and Equipment Directorate, and the RViPVO Commander, Major General Dusko Zarkovic, formed a commission of experts to determine the cause of the accident. Plane “Mig 21”, directed by the Chief of Staff of the RViPVO Command, Brigadier General Aleksandar Bjelic.
Telegrams of condolences to the families of the dead pilots, Major Dejan Krsnik and Captain Zvonko Vasiljevic, 1st Class, were sent by the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army, Aleksandar Vucic, the Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin, and the head of the General Staff, General Milan Mojsilovic. The MiG-21 aircraft was inspected prior to take-off in accordance with all procedures, and after inspection, it was determined to be correct and ready to fly.
