– We want to make a decision in a wide public debate, in a conversation with the citizens and the profession, which guarantees that the Serbian Army has an adequate filling, that it has a reserve … We listen carefully to all the arguments – said Stefanovic for TV Prva .

He added that regular military service would reduce the need to hire professional soldiers, but also that we should think about where soldiers would stay and what training they would have.

– Unfortunately, by 2012 resources have been decimated, such as barracks, recruitment centers and training centers, so we must seriously think about where the soldiers will stay, what training and equipment they will have, and that the State and the Army will they will benefit from it. – said Stefanović.

He reiterated that this is being seriously considered, but that the decision will be made when it is mature and when all the arguments are heard in consultation with all the participants in the process, mainly with the Army and the General Staff.

GRATITUDE

Stefanovic thanked all the doctors and medical personnel of the military health system.

– It was a test of how prepared we are and the state approved it, because we showed that we are strong in complex situations. Serbia has managed and has shown that it knows how to take care of people, Stefanović noted.

SERBIA IS MILITALLY NEUTRAL, BUT WE WANT COOPERATION

The minister reiterated that Serbia is militarily neutral, but that does not mean that it does not want to cooperate.

– It is important that everyone understands that, and that does not mean that we do not want to cooperate. We want to cooperate through military exercises and by acquiring equipment, but we are doing it in the best way for our country, Stefanović said.

He added that it is also important for Serbia to have a strong specially built industry and a serious national arms development process to depend as much as possible on others. As he says, Serbian experts are working on developing new weapons and tools that are part of our weapons, and it is important for factories to say what they can repair from complex systems.

The Minister thanked the President and the Government of Serbia once again because, in addition to the regular salary increase of five percent, the defense system will have an additional increase of 10 percent, which, as he says, is very important for the level of employees in that system.

– Taking care of people is fundamental and safety is a broader concept. It is also the social welfare and tranquility of people, as well as health security. Our country’s economy is getting stronger, we have more money, we are attracting investors, that’s why we were able to take care of citizens in a pandemic – said Stefanović.
