The president said that he attended the metropolitan’s funeral, as president of Serbia, to show respect for him and to say how sorry he was to have left us at a historic moment “in which his wisdom and knowledge would be sorely needed.”
– I express my deepest condolences on the passing of Metropolitan Amfilohije. He was a significant figure. A great person – said the president at the beginning of the visit.
He added that his last meeting with Metropolitan Amfilohije de Montenegro y el Litoral was excellent.
– During our meetings, he told me to understand the problems I face as President of Serbia, and that he wanted to show respect to that man and give him recognition.
President Vučić said that it was not the US embassy and that it did not interfere in the formation of the government in Montenegro.
– And I will cooperate with Krivokapić, as it is the choice of the Montenegrin people, and I will respect him – said Vučić, and then replied if he has ambitions to control the Prime Minister of Montenegro:
– I have no ambitions. I don’t want to control Krivokapic, Mandic or Knezevic – said Vucic.
Vučić explained that he visited Andrija Mandić’s family home and that he did not agree with the leaders of the Democratic Front. – We met briefly … They told me they agreed with an expert government. They don’t listen to me at all, I wouldn’t agree with that. He would never agree with minority support for the government, says Vučić.
The president said he takes into account the interests of the Serbian people and respects the independence of all countries in which Serbs live.
– My goal is for Serbia to be stronger, but also for all the countries in the region to be strong. That is why I extend my hand for good cooperation. I am neither a businessman nor a millionaire. I did not rob Serbia, I am interested in the future of my country. And I have succeeded, I am happy that Serbia is winning.
Vučić also spoke about the coup matter and said that neither Mandić nor Knezević were mentioned in the reports from Serbian services.
– That’s another notorious lie they came up with. Like the lies that I organized litigation in order to ostensibly strengthen my position in Montenegro – said Vučić, and tried to explain to the citizens what blows he was facing from Montenegro:
– At the time I was in the opposition, they invested 100 million euros against me. They bought televisions and newspapers – said Vučić.
When asked by the host why Serbia would not extradite Svetozar Marovic, he said that official institutions should ask that.
– I have no political agreement. We have a bigger problem than Marovic, and those are criminal gangs that we have to get rid of. These are our key issues. I will make sure you get a more detailed answer about Marovic in writing – said the president.
