The “Let’s not drown Belgrade” initiative announced today that the 538 square meter publicly owned building on Surdulička Street, Belgrade city, was sold at a public auction for 311,000 euros.
“Another publicly owned building was sold today for nothing,” the statement said, adding that the building was sold to Milan Joksimović.
It is noted that the sale was “accompanied by a curiosity” that none of the seven registered bidders participated in the contest and that the initial price of the installation was raised by just 400 euros.
Bidders had to submit a deposit of 62,000 euros in dinars, but did not participate more in the tender in any way, the statement said.
“In this way, the citizens of Belgrade were left without another property of public property, as the trend of sale of public property continues,” said Ne davimo Beograd.
The statement adds that the participants in the public tender attempted to prevent Initiative activist Dobrica Veselinović from documenting the event and informing the public about it.
The commission in charge of the public tender could not explain why photography would be banned, nor did it establish a rule or regulation prohibiting public tender after our questions, but cited the Personal Data Protection Law as the basis, according to the statement.
