Cooperation modalities

This was announced yesterday by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, in reaction to the accusations of the United Opposition of Serbia (UOS), which asked the Government to approach international organizations to ensure that Serbian citizens receive the vaccines that will be available to EU citizens.

– It is regrettable that our opposition uses the global problem for internal political struggle. As always, this time they are incompetent and uninformed. The government has been talking to Kovaks for a long time about the cooperation modality, which will be confirmed on September 18, Brnabić wrote on Twitter.

And prof. Dr. Berislav Vekić, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, pointed out that the negotiations have taken a month and a half and that the agreement will be signed on September 18, which will bring Serbia in line with 173 countries for the acquisition of covid vaccines.

– Together with the registration of the vaccine in the EU, it will be registered with the Agency for Medicines and Health Products (ALIMS). We want our citizens to obtain a safe and protected vaccine – he stated for Tanjug and added that all countries in the world can request through Kovax to obtain one of the vaccines that will be registered:

Army, police …

– We are monitoring the situation and we will see who will be the first to register. Serbia will request the best and safest vaccine.

As we learned off the record, Serbia would most like to provide two to three million vaccines, but as an epidemiologist and crisis staff member Prof. Dr. Branislav Tiodorović, we should be happy even if we receive a million doses, because there is a great race for the vaccine in the world.

– We must provide vaccines to cover the most vulnerable categories of the population, and they are the chronically ill, the elderly, those with decreased immunity (inherited or acquired) and children who need it. Of course, it should be mandatory for healthcare workers and for themselves, not to get infected, and for the good of patients. It would be good if the vaccine were given to sectors such as the army, the police, employees of banks, post offices, municipal and municipal administrations, places where many people circulate. But also journalists, because they move everywhere – says Tiodorović and adds that until now Kovaks has not been spoken of at the crisis headquarters.

BOTH OF IMPORTS AND OF “TORLAK”

Approximately 500,000 doses of influenza vaccine

Berislav Vekić also said that Serbia will be ready for the next flu season with more than 500,000 doses of vaccines, 345,000 imported and 200,000 “Torlak”.

– This year, we have forecast 30 percent more vaccinations compared to last year. I’m talking about the quadrivalent flu vaccine – said Vekić. The first doses and the first delivery are scheduled for October 1 and then distribution to health centers and public health institutes will begin.

Validation of tests for rapid detection of coronavirus, which detect the virus from saliva, is in process, said yesterday the deputy director of “Batuta”, Dr. Darija Kisić Tepavčević.

– At the moment, we have several types of tests mainly for antigens that will be validated in the coming days and will be aimed mainly at the population that needs screening tests: children, nursing homes, military teams, at border crossings, he said, adding each. Tests used for rapid detection are unlikely to give a false negative result.

WE LOOK FOR THE SAFEST VACCINE

We want oxford

Although there is a great fight for coronavirus vaccines in the world, Serbia is making great efforts, as we have learned unofficially, to provide the highest quality vaccine for the national population.

– Our intention is that it is the safest vaccine, and for now, “Astra Zeneca”, which is being developed by Oxford, acts as such – says a source in Kurir.

ABOUT THE KOVAKS PROGRAM

  • It is a global scheme designed to distribute the vaccine at the lowest possible price.
  • Two billion doses are planned to be distributed by 2021.
  • The goal is for the vaccine to be distributed evenly
  • So far, the program plan has been signed by 172 countries, representing 70 percent of the world’s population.
