Lawyer Bojić: Neither I nor Koluvija threaten Jelena Zorić

Lawyer Svetislav Bojić rejected as “incorrect and malicious” claims by H1 television that he had threatened that television journalist, Jelena Zorić, in connection with her reporting on the “Jovanjica” case and her client, the first defendant Predrag Koluvija.

He confirmed to Tanjug that he spoke with her briefly on December 28 and 29, as usual in front of the Special Court building, about the case and stated that “he explained to her that Coluvia is a good man” who “prays to God for everything “, including for those who detained him, as well as for her, whose information on the case she monitors and considers correct lately.

On this occasion, Bojić also gave a statement to the police as a citizen.

He emphasizes that he responded to the police call immediately and went directly from the road to the station, although they offered to wait for the official call.

There, as he puts it, he explained the entire event to him and apologized to Zoric if she felt threatened in any way, emphasizing that he and his client were the last people in this world who would put anyone in danger.

Jelena Zorić first denounced the threats to the Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, which immediately initiated the procedure.

After consulting with Veran Matić and the Committee for the Safety of Journalists, in charge of the police, Zorić reported the entire case to the Directorate of Criminal Police, which forwarded the report to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.

As Zorić pointed out in the report, it is of particular concern that, according to the defense attorney for the first defendant in the “Jovanjica” case, Svetislav Bojić, he was on the “Koluvija prayer list”.

Television H1 will approach the competent institutions of the Serbian and Belgrade Bar Associations with a request to consider whether the transmission, in our opinion, of obviously threatening messages to journalists, through lawyers, is in accordance with the ethics of the lawyers. If the relevant state bodies, as well as the ethical bodies of the bar associations, assess this as unacceptable behavior, H1 will require both houses to permanently revoke the license of lawyer Svetislav Bojić. In the meantime, we hope that both bar associations, until the final decision, will temporarily suspend the lawyer’s license for lawyer Bojić.
