“It is a forum where the leaders of the region come together more easily than usual,” Shahini said on the “Rubicon” program.

She assessed that the European Union has no new ideas for the Western Balkans.

“There is great inequality between the countries of the region and the EU. There is no doubt that the Balkans do not have a close European perspective. Regional cooperation depends on our relationship with the EU. The other thing is Kosovo’s relationship with Serbia. Kosovo is not a country for Serbia or the EU “For the EU, Kosovo is not a state at all,” Shahini said.

He added that the EU Office in Kosovo is not like in other Western Balkan countries.

“The region is treated very unevenly. I don’t see the ‘Mini Schengen’ differently from other projects,” Shahini added.

Shahini also noted that the EU should address how to move towards an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
