Since the beginning of the school year, 16 cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in 13 Belgrade primary schools, and the epidemiologist and Crisis Staff member Predrag Kon says that the situation is not worrying, that everything is under control and that it is not there is reason to close schools.

Kon told Tanjug that there were no reports of positive tests for the coronavirus in Belgrade secondary schools, whereas primary schools were mostly individual cases.
“In one school we have a case of a brother and a sister, a child is infected and the other is in home isolation for that reason. In another school there may be a transfer within the group where two students are infected, while in others schools are individual cases, “Conn said.
He points out that the goal is to prevent transmission of the virus and detect patients with the mildest problems, and warns that there is a period of seasonal respiratory infections in which mild forms of Kovida19 will be almost indistinguishable from other respiratory diseases.
“That is why all children who have respiratory problems or signs of infection should stay home, and parents should act like they are covid,” says Kon.
SURVEY: ARE YOU SENDING A CHILD TO SCHOOL?
When asked if he is satisfied with the results of the measurements after two weeks of school, Kon says that he would be satisfied if there were no viruses, but that the current situation is acceptable.
He believes that at this time there is no reason for the closure of schools, and points out that the system is designed so that each group is a monitoring unit and that it works.

“But if the groups are sent to online classes and it reaches a percentage that limits normal functioning, they will surely react. I hope the Ministry of Education will react first, because we, as a health surveillance system, have ensured that the schools, as collections in which it is the greatest possibility of transmission, but they will not be such risky places, ”says Kon.
He points out that many comment on social media that classes in schools should stop and switch completely to online, but he believes they are deeply wrong and that there is nothing better than direct communication and learning.
“This will still last, let no one think it will end quickly, it can last for years, although not with this intensity. When the vaccine arrives, it will pay off, but the vaccine cannot be expected to stop.” , emphasizes Con.
