The executive director of the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (Cesid), Bojan Klacar, said he expected the new Serbian government to be a coalition and a continuity government.

Klacar told TV Prva that it was “difficult to find political interests that would justify a concentration government”, and that such a thing would be expected during a major crisis, but that the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic was not of such proportions.

“The key epithets are the government in continuity and the government of coalition. It is important from the citizens’ point of view that people are willing to make concessions in that government. Concessions will have to be made on issues large and small, as well as on what awaits Serbia internally. ” Klacar said.

Klacar also affirmed that “the greater possibilities that Ana Brnabic returns to be prime minister”.

“The government will probably be short-lived, hence another argument from Ana Brnabić as prime minister,” Klačar said.

He affirmed that the new Serbian government, in addition to facing and expecting compromises on important issues, such as the Kosovo issue and the coronavirus epidemic, will have to make commitments on “minor issues” such as establishing a dialogue with opposition parties.

Klacar specified that, given the boycott of the previous elections by a large part of the opposition parties, “some type of internal dialogue will be necessary.”
