I’ll give it to you, and when did you pay for the coffee?

The decision of the President of the Serbian Assembly, Ivica Dačić, to deal with the price hike in the Parliament restaurant, was greeted with a knife by the deputies. However, what bothers MPs is not the higher prices, as they say in Kurir’s conversation, but the cheap demagoguery that the head of parliament resorted to.

SNS deputy Marijan Risticevic said he was willing to donate money for the amount Dacic paid for coffee at the Foreign Ministry during the head of diplomacy’s tenure.

– As much as you paid for coffee, drinks and food in the SME building, I am very willing to donate. Everything is paid in the Assembly, and the restaurant (which I did not enter for five years) is not an assembly, but the Joint Affairs Services and Prices are the same in any body of the Republic of Serbia. And I’ll pay for his singing, Risticevic wrote on Twitter.

Dacic’s idea was not understood even by SNS MP Dragan Shormaz.

– Demagoguery! I don’t know how you can do that at all! The Assembly restaurant is managed by the Joint Affairs Directorate, ie. Government. These are the prices that are in force in every government, I can say freely, canteens. I don’t know why he didn’t do that while he was Prime Minister, says Shormaz for our newspaper, adding:

– The true president of the Assembly would have to make an effort to strengthen the role of parliament in society, as well as to improve working conditions and the status of popular deputies.

However, there are those who support the President of the Assembly in his plan, and one of them is the independent deputy Vladan Glisic:

– The decision is good because it shows the solidarity of the Assembly with the people in the economic crisis. But Dacic would benefit the state more if he continued to work for the recognition of Kosovo than he did. That is why I voted against his election to this position.
