On the occasion of the death of retired army general Dragoljub Ojdanic, a memorial meeting was held today at the Guard House in Topcider, the Defense Ministry announced.
The funeral will be held in his hometown of Ravni near Uzice on Sunday, September 13.
Ojdanic was the commander of the Uzice Corps, then the chief of staff of the First Army, the commander of the First Army, as well as the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Yugoslav Army, and at the end of his career from 1998 to 2000 the chief of the General Staff and Minister of Defense.
He served in Sarajevo, Gjakova, Prizren, Pristina, Uzice, and Belgrade.
For his war merits in 1999, he was promoted to the rank of general in the army and received the Order of Freedom, the highest military recognition, which was awarded for extraordinary successes in the leadership and command of military units.
His active military service ended in 2000.
