The singer-songwriter Djordje Balasevic passed away on February 19, at the age of 67, leaving behind his wife Oliver, his daughters Jovana and Jelna and his son Alex, as well as numerous hits.
One of his most famous songs is “Ne lomite mi bagrenje”, whose quotes touch the heart and soul.
After Balašević’s death, his old friend and associate Vuk Žugić, director of the cultural program of the Center “Sava”, also revealed how this song came about.
“Djordje Balasevic was with us and we organized a New Year’s concert. The culture sector is above the great hall and is connected by a hut from where we followed the concert, and when he came to sign the contract, we heard that a train of our people came from Kosovo. Those who asked to be received by someone from the ruling leadership for everything that is happening to them, “Žugić said, adding:
“While we were talking, someone said that a reception space had to be provided and that it was the great hall of the Sava Center. We did not know, we see a room full of our people from Kosovo and Djole says: ‘Let’s see’,” he said in a program special dedicated to Balasevic, Zugic continued:
“There is that hut, we look down, we see the state leaders at the table, and the hall is full of our people. They came out one by one and told really terrible stories. Balasevic listened to them for 4 hours. Later we said goodbye and he replied after a few days and said, ‘I wrote a special song.’ It was the song, ‘Don’t break my dredge.’
Let’s remember, Balašević was buried on February 21 in Novi Sad in the presence of his closest relatives, with tamburitza and the song “Olivera” that he dedicated to his beloved wife.
