In the last 24 hours, 579 newly infected with the corona virus were registered in Serbia out of the 8,209 people examined, while three patients died from covid 19, epidemiologist Darija Kisić Tepavčević announced.
Currently, 530 patients are hospitalized, while 24 patients are on a ventilator due to complications from covid 19.
Since the start of the epidemic, a total of 1,271,455 people have been tested, while 786 people have died.
Most of those newly infected in the last 24 hours are from Belgrade (286), representing more than 49 percent of the total number of infected. After Belgrade, the most positive people are in Kragujevac (40), Novi Sad (18), Sabac (17), Prijepolje (16), Trstenik (15), Valjevo (14), Nis (13) and Bor (11 ).
In other cities, there were fewer than 10 infected.
In the last week from October 17 to October 23, 2,396 laboratories were confirmed, of which 1,185 are from the Belgrade area, followed by Kragujevac (126), Valjevo (97), Novi Sad (76), Nis (54 ), Kraljevo 51), Vranje (44), Prijepolje (39), Trstenik (37), Sabac (33), Aleksandrovac (32), Loznica (29), Krusevac (26), Bor (24) and Prokuplje (23) .
– We have potential carriers of the infection throughout our country. The number of hospitalizations is about 15 percent of all those infected, and moderate and severe clinical conditions are treated in the hospital, said Kisić Tepavčević.
In the previous week, 85% of all confirmed cases of the corona virus were in the age group up to 65 years.
