BELGRADE – Today, the Assembly of Serbia adopted a set of laws in the field of labor law and wages, which, among other things, postpones the new wage system in the public sector to January 1, 2022.

Before the enactment of these laws, the introduction of salary grades was scheduled for January 1, 2021, but the situation caused by the corona virus pandemic moved that deadline by one year.

Today, the deputies approved reforms to the Public Officials Law, reforms to the Public Sector Employees Law, reforms to the Law of the Public Sector Employee Remuneration System, reforms to the Law on Employees’ Salaries. Public Officials and Units of Local Autonomy.

Amendments to the Law on salaries of employees of public bodies and other organizations established by the Republic of Serbia, an autonomous province or a local self-government unit were also passed.

The reforms to the Civil Service Law move the deadline for state agencies to begin applying the obligation to hold a temporary job tender due to the increase in volume.

The new deadline for the start of the application of that provision is January 1, 2023, instead of January 1, 2021.

The Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović, said in the general debate that the priority and strategic commitment of the Government of Serbia remains the full implementation of the new wage system in the public sector.
