The Tax Administration said in a statement that based on data on foreign payments and filing of tax returns, it found that many people who earn income on social networks, such as YouTubers, influencers, people who deal with internet gambling and renting an apartment daily, do not pay taxes. regulations, that is, they did not pay taxes.

However, the YouTubers and influencers section seems to attract attention.

Many believe that all YouTubers and Instagram stars make huge sums of money without paying taxes, that is, working illegally.

Is this really so?

“I’ve been in this business for a long time and have worked with a lot of influencers. As the demand from agencies and clients for influencers grew, we had to explain to them that they have to open their own companies or agencies, and many of them have been in the VAT system. ”Explains to B92.net the public relations manager of many influencers in our country who wanted to remain anonymous.

As he says, the agencies forced the influencers to enter the payroll system because there was no other option to pay them the money they obtained for their engagement through various campaigns.

“So today you certainly have more than 30 influencers who own their agencies. Those who do not, unfortunately, are denied cooperation with customers ”, explains the interlocutor.

As the interlocutor from B92.net explains, there are two profit models when you are an influencer. One is from the monetization of clips on YouTube and the other from angamans for various campaigns.

“It is not easy to turn on the camera, undress in public and show your life on a plate. Anyone who thinks it is easy, let him try. There are hours and hours of work behind each ad, of course if you want your channel to make sense “, He said.

Explain that YouTube earnings are not large, except those that have millions of monthly views, and have no Instagram earnings, that is, they are not monetized.

“We only have a few YouTube channels that have gained great new ones through this platform. The channels that have, for example, 200,000 followers, with a monthly income level between 100 and 200 euros, depend on the number of views ”, concludes our interlocutor.

“A taxpayer who does not file a tax return, does not calculate and does not pay taxes, will be fined in the amount of 30 percent up to the total amount of tax owed, and not less than 500,000 dinars for a legal person or 100,000 dinars for a businessman, and in the event that a natural person obstructs the inspector in carrying out the fiscal control ”, he previously explained to the lawyer of B92.net, Miomir Stojkovi.

And how does the taxation of the self-employed in general work?

As the Tax Administration previously told B92.net, every self-employed worker who earned income abroad is required to calculate taxes and contributions for mandatory social security within 30 days, file a tax return and pay the determined obligation. . In addition to taxes, it is mandatory to pay social security contributions, as well as medical insurance if the self-employed person is not employed.

In translation, if you have collected 2,000 euros from a customer (around 236,000 dinars at the current exchange rate), the tax base will be 188,800 dinars. The tax on that is 20 percent, that is, 37,760 dinars. The contributions to PIO are 26 percent, or 49,088 dinars, and the contribution to health is 10.3 percent (19,446 dinars). In total, 106,294 dinars. Therefore, you have exactly 129,706 dinars or 1,099 euros left.

If you hire the self-employed person, you “save” about twenty thousand dinars because you do not pay the health insurance.

A self-employed worker in Serbia can provide services to foreigners, without registering the activity, only if they have a contract of employment, work and the like. Otherwise, the self-employed person is considered to be working illegally. In the event that the self-employed does not report the income made, this is considered tax evasion and, depending on the amount, it is determined whether it is a curve or an excess.
