Dejan Dabović (28) of Herceg Novi, who is accused of beating and stabbing his ex-girlfriend Dušanka Jocović (25) to death on December 26, 2019 on Aleksa Šantića Street in Novi Sad, was sentenced to life imprisonment today in Novi Sad Supreme Court.
The judge in the previous procedure handed down this sentence after forensic experts and a team of psychiatrists agreed in the last hearing in which Dejan slit the late Dušanka, inflicting more wounds and stab wounds, thus committing the crime of aggravated homicide.
On the basis of his testimony, the Deputy Prosecutor in charge of this case mentioned in his closing remarks that it had been proven that the suspect Dabović “was able to understand the significance of the crime with anger due to the breakdown of the relationship.” He purposely hit her eight times on the head, stabbed her in the arms with a knife and then stabbed her in the neck and chest, until he realized that he had killed her. “

After the murder, Dabović returned to the shelter, changed his clothes and packed his things. With a suitcase in hand, he hurried to the bus station. However, the police followed him and, after a three-hour manhunt, he was arrested in the Liman settlement in Novi Sad.
Even before the heinous crime, Dabović was known to the Montenegrin police for minor offenses and, as we found out, he also had a gambling problem. It is also suspected that upon his arrival in Novi Sad, more precisely on December 25, 2019, he stole money with a knife in a gambling shop on Tsar Lazar Boulevard in Novi Sad, for which he received a criminal complaint for theft.

Dusanka’s colleagues from the municipal sports and youth administration had only words of praise for her.
