Nedeljko Grbović was sentenced today to 13 years in prison for the murder of a member of the hooligans and criminals, Aleksandar Savković, called “Sale Mutavi”, in December 2017 in front of the Belgrade nightclub “Nana”.
Grbović’s detention, which he has been in since he was arrested a few days after the murder, has been prolonged.
According to the KRIK portal, the verdict is not final and the prosecution and defense can appeal it to the Belgrade Court of Appeal.
The lawyer for the convicted, Vanja Gajic, told KRIK that he would file an appeal because he believes that the court “acted with prejudice and prejudice”, as he stated, among other things, because it rejected his proposal to listen to two waiters “Nana”, witness of the murder.
“I think Grbović was punished too harshly, that the court did not respect and did not adequately evaluate the evidence presented during this procedure,” Gajić said.
KRIK reports that Grbović was not convicted of injuring Savković’s friend, Adi Isenović, or illegally carrying a weapon, because the prosecution does not declare it a separate criminal offense.
Along with Grbović, Miloš Tančev, Stevan Dukić and Stefan Šapurić also sat on the bench for the previous two years, and the prosecution claimed that they participated in the fight that preceded the murder as security for the nightclub “Nana”.
All three were released because, as Judge Marina Andjelković said, it was not proven that they participated in the fight, according to the portal.
A few days after Savkovic’s murder in the early hours of December 2017 in front of “Nana”, the police arrested alleged security worker Nedeljko Grbovic, who first denied it, but later admitted that he shot Savkovic.
At the trial, he said he felt threatened because he thought Savkovic took his gun and that they wanted to kill him and his son, who was working as a waiter that night.
As he said, the shooting was preceded by an argument between Savković and his friends with Red Star fans, and he and his security colleagues tried to avoid the conflict.
Grbovic also said that that night he had the first problem with Isenovic, who threatened him, when he shot and wounded him, after which, as he himself put it, he saw Savkovic approaching him, saying that he would “kill him and his son”. “.
“He accelerated towards me, started grabbing my belt. At that moment, I shot in his direction,” he said.
Grbović’s story was confirmed by other defendants, who also said that Savković’s company behaved inappropriately, causing problems, and Tancev and Šapurić said they heard that Savković threatened Grbović.
Isenović, for his part, claimed that he and Savković did not cause any problems at the club, but that security kicked them out.
Grbovic’s psychological expertise was also conducted at the trial, which showed that he did not react out of fear at the time of the shooting, but out of anger, and the prosecutor, relying on the expertise, assessed that Grbovic could not be trusted when he said he fired because he feared for his life.
