In the first shipment of a long voyage, the 45-year-old sailor from Bar Mladen Radulovic “fell” in the port of Hamburg on suspicion of smuggling 500 kilos of cocaine. Half a ton of drugs worth around € 50 million were seized on a “Budva” cargo ship on Saturday morning, just after the bulk was moored in a German port.

German police found the drug hidden in the ship’s car in record time. Of the 23 crew members aboard Budva, all Montenegrin citizens, so far, only Radulovic has been arrested.

It is questionable whether Radulovic himself did the demanding job of drug smuggling.

Furthermore, researchers should determine who should have taken the drugs in Hamburg, who is the author of the work. The seizure, of course, confirmed the operational knowledge of the German police, which cooperate with colleagues in the United States and other European countries, as well as with the Montenegrin police.

The day the drug was seized, the media reported that inspectors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Sector (SPBOK) had shared with partner services more than two months ago about preparations for smuggling half a ton of cocaine from South America to Europe.

For now, the drug is known to have been boarded on the Budva cargo ship in the Brazilian port of Santos, along with the dispersed sugar carried by a Montenegrin ship to the port of Casablanca. Sugar was dumped in Morocco and half a ton of drugs remained hidden on board.

In the past, Montenegro was considered a strong maritime state and had more than 40 cargo ships owned by the two companies “Overseas” and “South Ocean”. It has never been reported that drugs were seized on one of the Montenegrin ships.

However, the rapid benefits of drug smuggling over the past decade among Montenegrin seafarers has become an important reason to board ships abroad, mainly Italian companies.

In the navigation bar, owned by the Budva ship, they said they were “captured” due to the seizure of drugs on board the “Budva” ship, stating that this is the first time that a Montenegrin cargo ship has been smuggling drugs.

News from the bar company Plovdiv confirmed that the loading of wheat from Budva began on Saturday in the port of Hamburg, a load which, according to company management, sailed to a German port.

– Our agent in Hamburg is of the opinion that there will be no arrest of the ship in the German port. According to the planned schedule, a wheat-laden Budva ship will leave for Nigeria on Monday. So far there is no prohibition on browsing, they told News in the management of Barska Plovidba. The Bar and Budva ships are owned by the state-owned Barska Plovidba. Since the launch six years ago, Sea Pioneer has rented cargo boats from Bar Navigation London, owned by a businessman from Turkey, and the management of Bar Navigation and Si Pionir was renewed in 2018. The cargo ship lease agreement ” Bar “and” Budva “

According to Montenegrin media, Civis general secretary Zoran Miljanic said it would be costly for Montenegro to seize drugs on a state ship, that is, they could be left without that ship.

He also noted that the Montenegrin police would urgently have to release the names of the cocaine traffickers, because otherwise it could be suspected that it was a state job.

Miljanic recalled that this was not the first drug seizure on a state ship. In Tivat last year, drugs were seized on the “Jadran” school ship, a state Navy ship, which resulted in the arrest of several NCOs and civilians.

– The Budva ship, owned by the Montenegrin state, which found cocaine in the port of Hamburg, is located on German territory and, because the crew smuggled a large quantity of cocaine, the ship can be confiscated as a means of committing a crime under the law of most European countries. Miljanic said.
