In just ten days in August, more than 350 bakeries were closed. This is the result of a greater control carried out by the Tax Administration during the five-month delay in the payment of taxes and contributions. The Ministry of Finance recalls that the entire package of assistance to the economy is based on expected tax revenues and that avoiding payments upsets that balance.
Closed due to non-issuance of tax invoices or unregistered workers – with the signature of the taxpayer, the most common message is at the door of closed bakeries. Their owners do not want to be in front of the camera, on the other hand, those who have not yet been inspected are ready to speak, writes RTS.

“We issue tax invoices, we try to work according to the law, we have six employees, they are all registered, so we are not worried,” said Snezana Mladenovic, owner of “Bakery Mladenovic”.
More than 600 bakeries were controlled and it turned out that two thirds of them do not operate in accordance with the law. Taxpayers do not go to random addresses, they go after a thorough risk analysis.
“The Tax Administration receives traffic through GPS from all taxpayers who have cash registers. We can also compare that turnover across the tax registers and the number of employees in the facility and turnover, of course, consumers report that no tax chunks are issued, they tell us enough. that we can control ”, explains Nenad Krtolica, deputy director of the Tax Administration.
The Bakers Union has also announced that it is asking the state for additional help for small bakeries, whose turnover has been reduced by more than 80 percent, writes Olivera Petrović Stojančić for RTS.
“I call on bakeries to type invoices. I believe that between 60 and 70 percent of bakeries are on the verge of extinction, before closing,” warned Zoran Pralica, president of the Union of Bakers of Serbia
“We used the deferral of contributions, we used the minimum for all employees and that helped survival,” said Snezana Mladenovic.
The authorities recall that the package of aid to the economy worth 5.800 million euros depends to a large extent on the expected tax revenues.
“A large number of businessmen use the measures provided by the Government, but in the control we find non-compliance with the law, which refers to the non-issuance of tax brackets and undeclared work. I should mention that the non-issuance of tax invoices is a thing of the past ”, concluded Krtolica.
The regulations are such that when the Tax Administration discovers undue business for the first time, it closes the company for 15 days, the second for three months, if the violation is repeated for the third time, the company cannot operate for a year.
