Smiljana T. (35), a pregnant woman in the seventh month, and Predrag G. (41), both from Sremska Mitrovica, died yesterday morning in an accident on the road near the Dobanovac loop when the “Peugeot 3008” in the one flying under the truck parked in the stop lane.
The driver of “Peugeot” Kristijan S. and passenger Alen L. were injured in the accident. What is the cause of the traffic accident in which two people died and two were injured, according to the investigation. According to Blic, the Peugeot 3008, driven by Kristijan S. and with three other passengers, left Sremska Mitrovica for Surcin. They all went to work and Smiljana T. was sitting in the passenger seat.
However, on the road near the Dobanovac loop, the driver of the “Peugeot” turned into the stop lane from the middle for reasons not yet identified, whereby the vehicle flew under the parked “EHL transport” truck. The truck driver previously stopped the vehicle because the truck had a flat tire and needed to be replaced.

During takeoff, the front part of the “Peugeot” literally completely destroyed, and from the injuries received, the pregnant woman who was sitting in the passenger seat and Predrag G, in the back seat, suffered fatal injuries. The driver and another passenger in the back seat were injured, and firefighters pulled them out of the wrecked car and had to cut up a “Peugeot 3008”.
The wounded were taken to the Zemun Hospital, while the bodies of the victims were sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine.
Further investigation will determine why the driver of the “Peugeot”, who is currently in the hospital, got into the stop lane, if something bothered him, causing him to lose control of the steering wheel. Immediately after the accident, a truck driver whose truck had a flat tire made a statement, so he parked his vehicle in the stop lane to replace the tire.
Residents of Sremska Mitrovica received the news with disbelief that two of their fellow citizens were killed in a car accident near the Dobanovac circuit.
She lived with her parents
– Smiljana worked at the Kristijana K. company in Sremska Mitrovica. In recent months, she worked in Surčin, whether we know of the same boss or someone else, but she traveled to work. The boss may have a company branch, so she moved there because of her new emotional partner, say acquaintances of Smiljana T.
The young woman was married, but she divorced her first husband two or three years ago. After the divorce, Smiljana lived with her parents. Their 84-year-old grandmother also lives with them, while their brother is in Belgrade with her family. Once the family fled Croatia and settled in Sremska Mitrovica.
– A beautiful girl, a young woman. Cultural. I know I was doing something in the office, running a local business. A few months ago, she helped her older neighbors to request those one hundred euros. The elderly don’t know how to handle computers, so she met everyone’s needs and submitted their requests, victim Smiljana’s neighbors say.
Few neighbors in Smiljana’s family had the strength to express their condolences to her parents and grandmother yesterday.
– Poor people. They lost their daughter and grandson in an instant. He was supposed to be Smiljana’s first child. My father went to Belgrade. God forbid, he will bring his daughter back to the coffin. We believe that Smiljana’s grandmother doesn’t even know about the tragedy. She is old and the question is how she will survive. Terrible – say the neighbors and add that until recently they did not even know that Smiljana was pregnant.
She fell off the engine, broke her leg
Yesterday’s traffic accident is not the first in which Smiljana was involved. According to our interlocutors, while she was still going to school, she fell off her motorcycle and broke her leg. She was on a motorcycle with her then boyfriend.
And the late Predrag worked in Surcin
Smiljana T.’s acquaintance does not know the victim Predrag G. well, but claims to have heard that her family lives in the Mitrovica settlement in Kamenjar. He also worked at Surcin, but they don’t know if he is in the same company as Smiljan.
