Appointing Marko Đurić as Serbian Ambassador to the United States is a logical choice

BELGRADE – The media reported, officially unconfirmed information, that the current director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric, will be the new Serbian ambassador to the United States, and former diplomat Zoran Milivojevic believes that this is a logical choice.

Milivojevic claims that if the President of the United States, Donald Trump, gets another presidential term, the role of the Serbian ambassador to the United States will be that of spokesperson and broadcast on the Belgrade-Washington route to solve the Kosovo problem.

“At the same time, the continuity of the Trump administration would represent the continuity of its commitment to solve the Kosovo problem, in the positions where the United States started it. That would mean the completion of the Washington agreement,” said Milvojevic.

He says that it is not unusual for Serbia to have politically important personalities in some key ambassadorial positions, and claims that his election sends a message about the goal in diplomatic relations between the two countries, in this case the United States and Serbia.

“Marko Đurić could be a suitable person, who is Vučić’s right hand when it comes to Kosovo issues. He belongs to the circle of the highest political figures. This makes it clear that the United States is key to solving the Kosovo problem, and the pragmatic approach of the United States, which is now noticeable, without insisting on resolving the status, is something that suits the Serbian side, ”says Milivojevic.
