The Belgrade Court of Appeal sentenced Marko Petković to 17 years in prison for stabbing Sasa Joksić to death in the courtyard of the church “St. Ilija” in Vranić on 2 August 2015 and inflicting serious injuries on Dragan Jovanović. .

This decision confirmed the first instance verdict of the Belgrade High Court, whereby Petković was convicted of the crime of aggravated attempted murder in July last year.

The same verdict confirmed the verdict rejecting the accusation against Ivan Asodi, since the Superior Public Ministry had previously abandoned its criminal proceedings.

The court did not accept Petković’s defense that he stabbed Joksić in self-defense, because he was allegedly attacked.

However, he had an extenuating circumstance in mind, considering that Petković was a young adult at the time of the murder, as well as that he has not been convicted so far.

Petković and Joksić faced off in the cemetery on July 2, 2015, first arguing until Petković pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Joksić twice in the chest and his friend Dragan Jovanović in the stomach.
