– The shell of the pool was found in very poor condition, as were the systems under it. Now everything is done as the profession dictates and we continue to invest in the pool. The proposed budget for next year foresees 60 million dinars for the complete reconstruction of the filter plant. We will have the most modern filters with regard to the biological and chemical correction of the water, so that all those who use the pool, both citizens and athletes, will obtain the best possible conditions. It is especially important that the pool in all segments is adapted for people with disabilities, and we have never had that before. We defend this approach in all future investments. SPENS is a company that has suffered great consequences due to Kovid 19 and we have decided that commercial tenants have a 50 percent discount in both November and December of this year. Currently, 90 percent of the commercial space is rented and we are negotiating with some other private companies to come to SPENS, we are trying not to neglect that commercial aspect. We are waiting for an investment in the swimming pool in the sports hall “Slana bara”, and as soon as the epidemic ends, we will be happy to announce that the swimming pools are available to all citizens – said Mayor Vučević.

The rehabilitation works of the Olympic indoor pool began on May 20 and ended on November 13, 2020. Its value is 87.7 million dinars, and included the rehabilitation of the casing of the large Olympic pool in the closed part of the installation and rehabilitation of beach slabs around the pool. The concrete structure has suffered considerable damage from long-term water leakage through expansions, between the pool deck, the overflow channel and the beach slabs. The cracked piers supporting the concrete shell were reinforced with new piers and all damage and cracks were repaired. Damaged concrete slabs of the beach were also repaired. The entire construction is additionally reinforced and tightened with carbon strips. The waterproofing of the pool was done in the most modern way, and the ceramics of the pool and the surrounding beach were completely renovated. Underfloor heating has been replaced on the surrounding beaches, as well as all the facilities that accompany it, and two guest toilets have been arranged in the pool entrance hall. 39.7 million dinars were invested in the reconstruction of the swimming pool facilities. Ceramic floor and wall tiles have been installed, as well as 30 new changing rooms. A mobile lift and a platform for lowering the pool are provided for people with disabilities. Eight existing changing rooms have been renovated and the toilet and shower have been built in accordance with accessibility standards.
