A survey was conducted “DO SERBS WEAR MASKS”, the majority said NO, but we are sure that they will change their attitude very soon

Masks are one of the hot topics as soon as the corona virus is mentioned. While punishments are announced on the ground for all those who do not respect the prescribed measures, an interesting investigation was carried out on the habits of Serbs to wear a mask, and the results are worrying to say the least.

In other words, the Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering conducted a survey of a representative sample of 3,834 people on when and on what occasions they wear masks, and when they do not.

The results are the following:

In total, when looking at more than half of the respondents, 57 percent of them said they did not wear a mask, while 43 percent answered yes. The research was more detailed, so respondents were asked if they used masks in certain situations.

Thus, the vast majority of those surveyed, up to 72 percent, said they do not wear a mask on the street as a means of protection, while only 28 percent gave an affirmative answer.

A slightly better situation is when the question was whether they wear a mask on the market. In that case, the respondents were divided as much as possible: 49 percent said they wore a mask in the market and 51 percent said they did not use this protection in that public place.

The masks are mainly used in the market.

However, slightly better results were achieved when it came to shopping centers. There wasn’t much of a dilemma: 95 percent of respondents said they wear masks in closed facilities, while only 5 percent of them still claimed they don’t wear masks there either.

In any case, the overall results are still not satisfactory and it seems that the wearing of masks has not yet fully become a habit for the citizens of Serbia. It seems that very soon it will be an obligation, and whoever fails to fulfill that obligation will suffer the consequences.

Penalties from next week

As “Blic” finds out, a communal militiaman or a communal inspector of the city (tourist, ecological, market …) may impose a fine of 5,000 dinars on the spot to anyone, for example, who does not wear a mask or does not respect the distance prescribed physics inside.

The reforms to the Law for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases were approved by the government on Thursday and will greatly relieve the health inspectors of the republic, since until now they have been the only ones authorized to implement anti-epidemiological measures of the Crisis Staff.

According to the announcements, amendments to this law should be approved by parliament on November 10, which means that the measures in Serbia could be implemented more rigorously very soon.

Every day local experts and members of the Crisis Staff warn that masks are a very important resistance in the fight against the new and dangerous corona virus, but also against all other viruses.

The epidemiologist Predrag Kon previously stated that the use of protective masks currently replaces the state of emergency and curfew, emphasizing that “the inconvenience of wearing masks is a thousand times less than the inconvenience of the disease.”

– The discomfort from the use of masks is a thousand times less than the discomfort of the disease. Not to mention that we are more afraid of punishment than death – Kon pointed out.
