Due to the exceptional contribution to the development of anesthesiology and resuscitation and the special contribution to the training and operation of the covid center within the Leskovac General Hospital, prof. Dr. Radmilo Janković, director of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Clinic of the Nis Clinical Center, received the October Medal from the City of Leskovac yesterday.
Prof. Janković, a native of Leskovac, dedicated recognition to his late father, who died of a crown at his Niš clinic in July.
– The October award, in the form of a medal as the highest recognition that my hometown can bestow on an individual, awakens special feelings in me. In this special moment, for me, emotions burn like a torrent. This is the city where I was born, where I spent my best years and to which I will be inseparably united for the rest of my life. I am very happy that my children have a legacy with which they will proudly visit the city where their father was born, in whose country their ancestors have lived for more than 100 years. I proudly searched for my son and brother in this ceremonial hall. Unfortunately, my father was not there. I know I would definitely be there with them, proud of everything I have accomplished in my life so far. That is why I dedicate this award to him – said Prof. Dr. Janković added that “his people from Leskovac” made a great contribution to the fight against kovid 19 in Serbia.
– They were the first kovid hospitals outside of clinical centers. The young doctors, my former students, were in the front line, with courage, honesty and dedication. I am especially proud of them. Leskovac pulmonologists and infectologists have borne a heavy burden and practically maintained the wall in front of KC Nis since the first days of April. Our coordination, especially in the second peak of the epidemic, was impeccable. KC Nis is not, nor will he ever leave ZC Leskovac in the lurch. This cooperation has saved dozens of lives of the most seriously ill patients. Anesthesiologists will stay in this battle until the end, because after us, there is no one left to care for the most serious patients. We will fight and command # daljenecešmoci – said Prof. Dr. Janković, who is one of this year’s 10 winners of this prestigious recognition of Leskovac local self-government, which is awarded to the deserving people each year on October 11, on the city’s Liberation Day in the Second World War.
And among them is posthumously Dr. Dušanka Duda Živković, an infectologist at Leskovac hospital, who died of covid.
