“A powerful woman who arrives at the head of the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Telecommunications”, this is how the media describe Tatjana Matic, who will replace Rasim Ljajic, leader of the SDSP, a party to which she belongs.

She is from “Hello!” She said she was extremely proud that Ljajic had placed his trust in her, that she was happy to be a part of the new modern “female” government.

I am extremely proud and feel a great responsibility that Mr. Rasim Ljajić has placed his trust in me and has suggested that I take over the department in which we have worked hard and with dedication in the last term. I have been cooperating with Ljajić for 15 years and in the professional sense I have grown up and matured with a leader and a politician, who is above all a statesman. It will not be easy for me to replace it, but I will do my best.

What do you think of being a member of the new government, in which 50 percent of the ministers will be women?

– I am very happy to be a member of such a modern and progressive government! I believe that the Government of Serbia, headed by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, had in this way a historic opportunity to show how many women in Serbia are the pillar on which the economic and social prosperity of society rests. Women in Serbia have always been the pillar of the family and those who have borne the greatest burden of responsibility in the most difficult moments. Finally, the time has come for them to receive recognition for this through such a large participation in the executive branch, and we all have a great responsibility to be worthy representatives of all these women in Serbia, from Sjenica and Novi Pazar to Nis, Valjevo and Ljubovija, to Novi Sad and Subotica. I congratulate and thank the Prime Minister and the President for this courageous decision.

You take over the ministry headed by your party chief Rasim Ljajic, did you give him any advice?

– The advice that Mr. Ljajic always gives me is yes work, work and work. Of course, I hope you will support me in the future. We’re a team.
