The Road Safety Agency has started the drafting of a new Road Safety Law, which will regulate the driving rules for electric scooters.

The new law will be drawn up according to the Slovenian model, according to which it will only be allowed to drive on the pavement at a speed of up to 6 kilometers per hour.
Electric scooters can be seen more and more on the streets, the use of which in traffic in Serbia is not yet regulated by law, and there were situations when there were collisions with other vehicles. Precisely for these types of situations, users often ask about the rules of use when renting a scooter.
Mitar Radojevic, entrepreneur says:
HAVE YOU TRIED TO DRIVE AN ELECTRIC SWEATER until now?
“Above all we inform them and people ask us how everything works, where they are allowed to drive. Of course it is not allowed, where there are people, for example in Zmaj Jovina, we usually see people who are sent to the pier where the trail is, where everything is in accordance with the law, where they are safe. “
The new law, among other things, will include the age structure of the user who may use this means of transport, technical characteristics, protective equipment and certain regulations that will limit the speed of movement.

Milan Ilić, advisor to the director of the Traffic Safety Agency, notes:
“What is more true in our country, compared to some examples such as Slovenia, as some countries in the region, which have already passed such laws, is that it is most likely that they are not allowed to circulate on the roads where they are vehicles move. The dilemma remains to be seen. Allow them to move in the pedestrian zone, at what speeds or simply on bike lanes. These funds are the future and must be made available to help us in the purpose for which they are intended, without any problem “.
Until a new law on road safety is passed, authorities are calling on electric scooter users to move carefully in traffic. If they are on the sidewalk, they must not exceed the speed above the movement of pedestrians, they must use the necessary signaling and protection equipment, as well as they must not move on the roads intended for motorized vehicles.
