Workers of various professions have benefited seniority of service in Serbia, and as stated by the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, it is a number significantly higher than 10.
In Serbia, it implies higher contributions for PIO, early retirement and longer use of the pension relative to other pensioners.
There are jobs, that is, jobs in which work is especially difficult, dangerous and harmful to health, despite the fact that all the general and special protection measures have been applied at work, as well as jobs in which the performance of the professional activity is limited to certain years of life or that, due to the nature and difficulty of the work, the physiological functions decline to such an extent that they prevent a greater successful performance of the professional activity.
As explained by the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance, depending on the difficulty of the job, the danger and damage to health, as well as the measures taken for protection at work, the coefficient of increased duration of insurance. A year counts as 14, 15, 16, or 18 months.
Furthermore, the duration of the insurance is calculated with an increase in the duration only on the condition that the person has actually worked in these jobs for at least 10 years (for the old-age pension) or 5 years (for the disability pension) .
The right to benefited time of service is not only for employees to whom employers pay contributions, but also for those who pay for their own time of service. provided it is determined that they actually did hard and dangerous work that is legally covered by the benefit, they explain in the PIO fund.
The time of service benefited in our country is related to employees of the army, police, as well as activities such as mining, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, oil production and refining, chemical industry, production for special purposes, rubber industry, pharmaceutical industry, electricity production.
The jobs in which the duration of the insurance is calculated with a longer duration have been determined by various rulers, they point out in the Fund. Therefore, individual ordinances determine the positions with a beneficial length of service in certain state bodies, which are adopted by the joint Minister of Labor and the competent ministers, that is, the director of the BIA in whose jurisdiction the positions are located. (for example: MIA, BIA, VBA, VOA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Fiscal Police, Serbian Army, and since December 2019, judges, prosecutors and deputy prosecutors deployed in the departments of courts and prosecutors for war crimes and organized crime).
How is the duration of the benefited service calculated? And how much can someone get?
The Pension and Disability Insurance Fund indicates that a distinction must be made between the general retirement conditions and the most favorable conditions for retirement, as well as between the calculation of the general pension that is applied to a large number of insured persons and the calculation of the most favorable pension that applies to certain categories of insured.
We are interested in the latter, which means that more favorable conditions for the exercise of the right provide that a person can exercise the right to an old-age pension, depending on the jobs they perform and within which body they perform them, as follows :
– MUP, MSP, BIA, VBA, VOA, Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Fiscal Police, Serbian Army (in 2020, at the age of 55 years and 24 years of insurance experience, of which 14 years actually spent in jobs where insurance experience is calculated with longer duration), – noncommissioned officer and serbian army officer (53 years and 40 years of pensionable service), – Serbian Army Colonel (54 years and 40 years of pensionable service), – members of special units BIA, VBA and VOA (53 years of age and 20 years actually dedicated to certain specific jobs in a special unit) and – other cops (60 years and 25 years, of which 15 years are effectively transferred to jobs where the duration of the insurance is calculated to be longer).
A more favorable calculation of the pension is made according to the full duration of the insurance and wages as of 1.1.1996. year, so the pension thus calculated is increased by 20%, provided that these people have reached 55 years of age and have at least 24 years of insurance experience.
How much will you have a pension?
Currently, the average pension in Serbia is 27,700 dinars and it will be increased by at least 1,662 dinars. A new increase of six percent should be expected, as announced, with the January pension.
Practically, from 2021, instead of 10,000 dinars of pension, pensioners will receive 600 more dinars, while those with higher incomes (above 100,000) will have an increase of at least 6,300 dinars.
Pensioners with a monthly income of 35,000 dinars should expect an increase of 2,100 dinars, and those with pensions of 50,000 dinars an increase of 3,000.
Pensions will grow next year according to the agreed model, the Swiss formula, which involves adjusting the incomes of our older citizens with 50 percent inflation and 50 percent growth in average wages.
